6 MONTH - FIRST OFFENDER PROGRAM

This program meets the requirements for the conviction of a first offense driving under the influence. The program is a total of 45 hours combining alcohol and drug assessment, alcohol and drug education, process groups and individual interviews. Originally created for the high alcohol .20 arrests several years ago, the 6 month program has been replaced by the 9 month first offender program in California.

Some counties in California use a graduated method for assigning first offender programs. The six month program today is sometimes ordered for those arrested at .15 to .19 alcohol level.
